Week #29  100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups


The only sounds in the room were the ticking of the clock on the bedside table and the “shush-shush” sound of the ventilator as it made Grandma’s chest rise and fall.  This had been a long time coming.  But then again it was just last Wednesday when Grandma had cried out in her sleep and woken as if terrified of something dreadful.  It was the same Wednesday when I comforted Grandma with the sure knowledge she was done with her struggle here on earth and there were others waiting for her on the other side.  Grandma slipped away.
