This is my entry for 100 WCGU, Week 34.
Transcript of the trial of Dr. Forgetful:
Prosecution: “Doctor, you performed surgery on Mrs. Benzeknees on December 29, 2011 did you not?”
Dr. Forgetful: “Correct.”
Prosecution: “And what was the surgery for doctor?”
Dr. Forgetful: “Mrs. Benzeknees wanted to lose weight & I’m successful in suppressing the the brain’s hunger centres.”
Prosecution: “Doctor, would it surprise you to learn the surgery was not successful?”
Dr. Forgetful: “But I turned it off . . .”
Prosecution: “Are you sure? Mrs. Benzeknees did not lose any weight, but she quit smoking the same day & has now been smoke free for almost 90 days.”
Dr. Forgetful: “Oh my, what have I done?”

I also somehow wanted to work into the story an update on my Quit Smoking goal & I’m happy to report I am almost 90 days smoke free! It was not easy but also not nearly as hard as I had anticipated. I remember telling my physician if he wanted me to quit smoking he needed to block off about a week in his calendar so he could monitor me while I was in a coma in order to get me to quit! The cravings still surprise me with their strength from time to time but I am keeping my fingers crossed I am finally a non-smoker.

Congratulations on 3 smoke-free months! I know that’s a huge accomplishment; many of my friends have tried and failed. Stick with it and you won’t regret it, guaranteed.

Lol. Science is always making wonderful progress.
I love your names.
And congrats on the 90 days. I quit twice (oops). The good news is that after a while you find the smell really awful.

Thanks for the encouragement – right now I’m trying to deal with the proliferation of diesel in the city which I couldn’t smell before. Wow, almost makes me wish I smoked again, so I wouldn’t have to smell it. Just kidding – but it makes me want to protest diesel fuel!

I enjoyed your take on this prompt and the style of your tale.
He may not have solved the weight problem, but seems to have done a great job on the smoking habit ……. one out of two’s not bad.

I don’t think I’d be strong enough to give up something for 90 days . . . congratulations and here’s hoping you make it to another 90 days!

Thanks for your comments & I’m very glad I was able to quit smoking – this was my way of being able to update my followers on my smoking status & write my entry. I found it fun to combine the two, although it was quite a challenge too.

Congrats. Another three months and you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. As for Dr Forgetful, I’d say he’s on to a winner here, if only he could remember how he’s done it. Nice one.

I agree Dr. Forgetful is on to something – if only it were true! I have put on a few pounds since quitting somoking & would love to be able to turn a switch to turn off my appetite now. Food tastes so much better & smells so much better.

Congratulations on going so long without smoking. I wish you the best of luck in keping it up. It’s tough, so be proud! Wouldn’t it be lovely if there were machines to help us quit things? I want one to cure my chocolate addiction 🙂

Thanks – me too! Chocolate reasserted itself as my best friend while I was quitting smoking as the pounds around my tummy & hips can attest.

What a fun piece! As for the mistake and getting the wrong control center…I think we’ve all switched gears in order to stay sane! Congrats on stopping smoking…when I quit, I sucked on flavored toothpicks for months…then got tired of them and just was done. 🙂 Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much. I used chocolate & pretzel sticks for a while – who am I kidding, I would never give up chocolate, it was just such a great excuse to over indulge 🙂
