Are any of you watching this new show on NBC this year? It’s about how society survives after all the power goes out.
The story starts about 15 years after the power has gone out when America is divided into different territories ruled by different leaders. And then there are the rebels who don’t want to live under the prevailing leader. Big cities are cesspools of vice while most of the rebels live in camps where they grow their own food & rely only on themselves. Through flashbacks we learn how different people reacted to the power outage, often giving us insight into their characters.
The series begins with an attack on a rebel camp where Ben, Charlie & Danny live, near Chicago in the Munroe Republic. Ben, somewhat of a leader, is killed & his son Danny is kidnapped. His daughter Charlie & a couple of other rebels go looking for Danny. The Munroe Republic is ruled with intimidation & an iron fist. The journey is fraught with danger as they have to avoid the leader’s troops as well as individuals who do not belong to any rebel groups.
This is an interesting show as it deals with what happens to society when there is a power vacuum (after all the power goes out) & how people survive & thrive. I am enjoying it very much.

Post-apocolyptic is the premise for my book. BTW I (& I do mean ME) got the Calibre program to work this morning! Whoo hoo! I was just about ready to send you an email with my phone number when I figured it out. I was so proud of myself & know I have more than a dozen books to read! Happy dance!

I am very proud of you too :). Isn’t it a wonderful program? And to think that it’s free! And you’re using Tuebl right? Because of Tuebl I now have literally hundreds of books to read, and I’m always happy when I can introduce other people to it :). I still buy real books so I am supporting authors, but I just can’t afford to buy as many as I read :).
You are writing a book? Had you told me that before? Well, I love that genre, so I can’t wait to read it!!

Yes, I’m doing everything you recommended. Like you, I can’t afford to buy as many books as I would like to read. This was part of the reason I started doing book reviews so I could read books for free. Yes, I’m writing a book, it’s still in the research stage, so it will probably take a long time to write.

I do book reviews for the same reason. The only problem is that the perfectionist side of me makes me take notes while I’m reading the book so that I can write a really detailed review, but then it becomes more like work and not as much of a relaxing read as usual LOL!
That’s so exciting about your book. I sometimes think that maybe one day I might write a book too :). Good luck with it!!

I bet you could do a wonderful coffee table book with some of your wonderful pictures! Then you could write little stories to go with each pic! Not that I’m doubting you could write a big story too, but you take such wonderful pics!

Aww, thanks!! That means a lot to me :). You know what else I want to do (when I have a spare moment LOL)? I want to get my blog printed out in book form. I have put so many hours into my blog that I want to be able to look back on it years from now.

I watched a couple episodes and then stopped, not because I didn’t like it, but because I just didn’t have time to watch it. I’ve always liked Billy Burke though.

I am watching that show… good strong female characters… but please… don’t use the ‘R’ word… I am still sensitive about the uprising that overthrew my new government… sigh…

I started watching this show but after 5 episodes got behind and had them DVR’d but then moved. NBC online has been VERY stingy about this show along with the final season of Chuck, so I haven’t had a chance to get back into it. Thanks for the great post and reminder to check and see if there is any movement on past episodes. 🙂

Just bought my first two e-books. The wife has discovered the joys of Kobo. She and/or the son download them, so I don’t even have to learn, just wrestle the reader away from her occasionally. 🙂

I finally figured out how to download books for free. If you look through some of the comments over the last few days, Photos from the Loony Bin gave instructions on how to do it!
