Friday night, watching Canadian football, about an hour after dinner.
Kelvin said, “You want some popcorn?”
“No, thanks.”
“How about some munchie mix*?”
“Not for me, you go ahead if you want.”
“You still have some dip in the fridge, do you want some chips & dip?”
‘Not really.”
“We also have veggies for dipping.”
“No, I don’t want veggies.”
“How about an apple?”
“Perfect! Apple slices would be great.”
As Kelvin heads for the kitchen, I ask, “Could you put a few more ice cubes in my drink?”
With a grimace, Kelvin takes my glass. He adds ice to my glass & gets himself a glass of cold water from the water dispenser. Then he sits back down in the living room.
“Where’s the apple?”
“Argh! You had to ask me for ice didn’t you?”
* Our homemade munchie mix consists of Shreddies, Cheerios, blanched peanuts, salted pretzel sticks, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, onion powder & a little bit of celery salt. Delicious & low in fat & salt. Kelvin made a huge roaster full earlier in the week.

For the first time EVER Kelvin read my blog post – his reaction – you need to get your memory tested, I did not offer you chips & dip, I offered you a Freezie! Typical Kelvin!

I’ve gotten in going to the kitchen and yelling “I got your ???. Is there anything else I should be getting?” just to avoid this scenario.

We have an open plan suite so he doesn’t even have to go into another room! But I love your idea Guaps!

I don’t have any children living with us, so I really don’t remember how the kids were at fetching things. Kelvin is bad enough.

For some reason (probably because he wanted a snack so bad), Kelvin was convinced I should have a snack. I really didn’t want one at the time, just wanted a little ice if he was going to the fridge to get some apples.

Keep a book of Post It notes handy, write instructions and stick it to his chest. I;m not joking as I have to do this for myself at work if I am heading downstairs to do something as I always forget what i went there for.

Now that is a poor memory! When I used to work, if I had a number of things to do when away from the office, I would stick a post-it note to my hand to make sure I got everything.

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve gone in a room and forgotten what I went in there for, I’d have enough money for a memory enhancer… But good on you for choosing the apple slices! (I love that Canadian phrase ‘good on you.’ I use it whenever I can, as if it’s mine!)
