Some of you who read my blog regularly know Kelvin & I went away this weekend to check out Grande Prairie where he was applying for a job. Still don’t know if he got the job, but I’m glad to be home. This morning we had an appointment with the furniture repair guy to come in & fix a defect on our couch. This is the 2nd time we have had the same bolt break – I am so glad I talked Kelvin into the extended warranty when we bought it.
As I was busy putting things away from our trip, I started a load of laundry & asked Kelvin to remove his suspenders from his jeans as I would be doing a dark load of laundry next (yes, Kelvin wears suspenders). While Kelvin was removing his suspenders, the furniture repairman arrived & Kelvin got involved with helping him turn the couch over & explain the repair needed. When the repairman went down to his truck to get his staple gun, Kelvin vacuumed under the parts of the couch we generally can’t reach. About half an hour later the repairman left.
“Baby, have you seen my coffee cup?” Kelvin asked.
“No, when was the last time you had it?”
“I don’t remember. I’m pretty sure I made myself a cup of coffee, but I can’t find it.”
“Check the Keurig to make sure you actually made yourself a cup.”
After checking the Keurig, “Yep, it’s my brand in the machine & it’s still warm so I must have a cup somewhere around here.”
“You went into the office to check the couch batteries, did you leave it in there?”
After searching the office, “Nope.”
“Check around your briefcase on the table. It’s kind of hard to see with it open there.”
After searching the table, “No, it’s not there.”
“What else have you done today?”
“I was only on my laptop before the repair guy arrived.”
“Well, I don’t know honey, I haven’t seen it.”
Kelvin walks around the apartment, looking in every room. “Found it! I must have put it on my dresser when I was removing the suspenders from my jeans.” (eye roll)
Don’t worry, his coffee was still warm – he drinks from a travel mug all the time because he doesn’t like cold coffee.

Most of it was sunflower seed shells so he would have been dead if he hadn’t! LOL! Those seed shells get everywhere.

Ok, I’m not sure why your comment reminded me of this, but I know you will understand and probably relate to it. I guess it’s because all men drop/spill stuff and just leave it where it falls, whereas a woman would always clean it up. Every time my hubby cuts the the corner off the milk bag, he just lets it fly, and I find those little plastic triangles everywhere in my kitchen. Does that ever happen at your house?

Kelvin is more likely to clean those things up – it’s his sunflower seeds that get everywhere, they stick to his clothes so when he gets up & walks around they fall on the floor where I can walk on them, yuck! We use milk jugs so we can recycle, so I never see those little triangles. But it would drive me mad if Kelvin did that. Have you tried piling them up & handing them to him?

And what I took away from this was that your couch takes batteries!!! Does it have “shakers” for effect when you watch movies and they have a lot of explosions????

We have a two-sided reclining couch with power – push a button & your seat reclines, push it again & it goes back to a regular couch. The batteries are for when the power goes out because we got trapped in our chairs the last time the power went out. Both of us have arthritis in our knees – hence the power.

I used to be that way until I smartened up – my keys are only in my right coat pocket or on the hook. I don’t put them anywhere else or I won’t remember where they are. Same thing with my coffee cup.

You’re so sweet. I would have scared but if I could would have tried. I was actually in GP with “Sam” yesterday. She wanted to go to the mall and such. So I don’t know if the times would have matched up or not.
Sam is now on the plane home but it looks like she is coming back to live with us.

That’s exciting about Sam moving in isn’t it? It sounds like you have been enjoying having her around. We left Grande Prairie at exactly 11 a.m. yesterday morning. Kelvin & I glanced at the clock in the truck as we were pulling out of the hotel. So sorry I didn’t try to contact you, but I didn’t want to put any pressure on you. If we end up there again, I will definitely try to make arrangements to at least meet.

I think they would call us the Natterers! When we owned our grocery store, we always warned our staff – if we’re nattering at each other it’s OK, things are normal. If things go silent – then we’re fighting & stay out of the way.

Too close to home – I’m forever forgetting where I set things. It’s become VASTLY more common recently, and combined with my temporary mental blocking of random words, makes for an annoying reminder of age (and the bucket-loads of drugs I’ve taken for my headaches).
I gotta ask about something – you mentioned “couch batteries”. What part of a couch requires batteries? And is that why you were smiling before Kelvin came into the picture? 😉

John, get your mind out of the gutter! We have motion furniture – 2 recliners joined by a thing in the middle. Because Kelvin & I both have bad knees we opted for “power motion”, you push a button & the recliner reclines by itself & vice versa. The batteries are so you don’t get stuck in your couch if the power goes out (like it happened once already).

My big thing about misplacing things are my keys. I have to put them in same place all the time or I lose them. I put them on a hook by the front door as soon as I walk into my apartment so that I know that they are ALWAYS there.

When I used to go to work, my keys were always in my right coat pocket (even at home) unless they were in my hand or I would lose them.
