*sigh* Not all introverts are essentially scared of human interaction. That’s social anxiety.
Extraverts get their energy from other people. Introverts get their energy from alone time. That doesn’t necessarily mean that introverts are scared of human interaction– it’s more that we find it draining, more especially in LARGE amounts, like a big party.
I do rather detest small talk per se, however. Took me forever to realize that some people asking me “how’s it going?” might as well be asking me about the weather, for they don’t want to know how I REALLY am.

Too true – try answering with an honest “Having a lousy day today, but thank for asking” & watch their eyes glaze over as they dart about looking for a way to escape the conversation.
