It’s time for Share Your World again! Here is the link: http://ceenphotography.com/2014/03/17/share-your-world-2014-week-11/
Here are the questions for this week:
If you were an ice cream cone how many scoops and flavors would you be and why?
I prefer soft ice cream but if I was forced to choose regular ice cream I would be pistachio or mint chocolate chip. There is just something I like about green colored ice cream & I love pistachios & mint. I have always loved spumoni ice cream, but I can’t find anyone who serves it anymore! (I love ice cream with fruit in it – like Dark Cherry) But I would not be served in a regular cone – nothing so mundane for me – it would have to be a sugar cone & I would be 2 scoops (like my lady bumps).
Are you left or right handed?
This is a very difficult question for me to answer. I was born left-handed, but I was forced to write & do everything with my right hand when I was little (like before I attended school). If I picked up a crayon with my left hand, I got my hand smacked & the crayon was moved to my right hand. If I persisted, my left arm was tied to my side. It was a predominant belief years before I was born that left-handed children were retarded or at the very least less intelligent than right handed people. My parents professed they were trying to save me from a lifetime of ridicule. Somehow I’m not sure I believe them.
Things became very confusing for me when I tried to play softball because I didn’t know which hand I wanted to throw with or which hand I wanted to catch with. I would invariably end up with a glove on the wrong hand & have to snatch it off in order to catch a ball coming my way (which often led to me catching the ball bare-handed & spraining fingers). Needless to say I was awful at sports.
When I fractured my right wrist in 2009, it didn’t take long before I could again write with my left hand & my writing was actually legible. It was slow going, but I could do it.
Before making a phone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say?
Almost always. When I have to record a message on a phone I generally have to edit it or re-record it 5 – 6 times before I am satisfied with the result.
How many rings before you answer the phone?
Too many years working as receptionists has made me dive for the phone on the first ring. I hate to hear a ringing phone. I once got a job because while I was waiting for the interview the phone started ringing & there was no sign of anyone answering it, so I picked it up & tried to help the person on the other end. Luckily for me, my phone seldom rings, so it saves me from having to listen to it. Besides, I’d much rather Skype.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am grateful I got to meet some new bloggers by participating in Share Your Week last week. Fellow introverts are very interesting to me!

My mother went to parochial school where they tried to “fix” her left-handedness. I am sorry you went through that at home.
For some reason I always see spumoni around Christmas and no other time of the year.

I would put mint chocolate chip behind pistachio, but I do love green ice cream!

I often prepare what I’m going to say beforehand, on the phone or otherwise. And I’ll take some vanilla ice cream with peanut butter cups please. 🙂

I also like vanilla ice cream with Ovaltine. If you mush it all up in your bowl to make it like soft ice cream, it tastes like a malted milk!

One of my sisters is left handed. Those people are CRAZY! 😉
Soft chocolate, with rainbow sprinkles when I go out for ice cream, whatever is the weirdest flavor available when I’m at the supermarket.

I don’t much like ice cream cones at all because I prefer to mush my ice cream up so it’s like soft ice cream. Have you tried those Nestle sundaes? My fav is strawberry shortcake!

That sucks that your parents did that with being left handed but now I’m assuming that your ambidextrous?

” mint chocolate chip.”
Me too, Benze! And definitely on a sugar cone!
And it was interesting to read about being left-handed because it was the same for my brother.
Have a super weekend, my friend!

Isn’t it awful what parents used to do to us? My daughter is left-handed & always has been! Have a great weekend Ron!

Why in the world would anybody do this to another person? We’re all born with certain abilities & preferences, so let us live with them!

Did you know some research shows left handers are more prone to violence? I thought that was interesting. As for the ringing phone, that’s a tough question to answer since my ringtone is actually a song, and an instrumental at that (the Peanuts theme). Unless it’s Tara, in which case it’s Gerry Rafferty. How times have changed!

Why I autta . . .! To me it doesn’t matter what the ring tone is (I used to have Reba McIntyre’s song “Just Call” as my ringtone), I find it too annoying to let it go on for more than a single ring!
