Drinkin and Drivin in Newfoundland . . . .
Two Newfies, Archie & Harry, were driving down the road drinking a couple of beers.
The passenger, Harry, suddenly said, ‘Lord tundering…up ahead — it’s a police roadblock!! We’re gonna get busted for drinkin’ dese here beers!!’
‘Don’t worry,’ Archie said. ‘We’ll just pull over & finish dese beers, then peel off the label, stick it on our foreheads & throw the bottles under the seat.’
‘What fer?’
‘Jist let me do de talkin’, OK?’
So they finished their beers, threw the empties out of sight & put a label on each of their foreheads.
When they reached the roadblock, the police officer took a long look at the two of them & said, ‘You boys been drinkin’?’
‘No sir,’ said Archie, pointing at the labels. ‘We’re on the patch.’
Must be a Canadian thing, eh?
Just a quick heads up for my followers, I’ve gone & done a silly thing again – I’ve signed up for NaNoWriMo Camp for the month of April! For some reason, I’m bound & determined to get this book written! On top of that, I’m starting a new online university course on Forensic Sciences. So if you don’t see as much of me this month, it doesn’t mean I don’t still love each & every one of you (& you know who you are), I’ll try to catch up as I can! I’ve been busy over the last few days getting some posts scheduled, so please continue to stop by! Mwah!

It’s offered through FutureLearn in UK, the first class was yesterday & you could still join in you like! First class we learned about DNA & trace evidence like shoe prints, fibers, hairs, gun powder residue, etc. Different evidence has different importance based on where it is located, how much of it there is, etc. Lots of opportunity for research of real life cases! Really interesting so far!

Thanks for the info. I’ll look into it and see if they offer something in the future when my schedule allows. Sounds like it would be great for a thriller writer.

Being a writer was a big reason for me taking this course too. Although I am not currently working on a thriller, it may be useful some day or in other ways as I work on my NIP.

Never been that drunk myself! So much re-writing to do, it may not even turn out to be on the same topic when I’m finished!

Good luck with the projects!
I just heard from Canadian Embassy after a year, and they confirmed I need no visa for holidays to Canada, unlike I need for America. Great to know. My partner is working in Montreal for a bit in Summer so money permitting I may try and pop over there for a week. Flights looked quite expensive though and have to pay for a cattery know as I live so far from my previous cat sitter.
In celebration I will soon take photos of my rabbit hutch sized apartment and post them up 🙂

Yeah! Montreal is a long way from Edmonton (4 hour flight I think) but at least you’ll get to see some of Canada (even if it is the French part)!

He’s also going to Vancouver, I have a choice. Or it’ll be none if I can’t save the cash
You need some visual FX companies in Edmonton then he can go there 😀

If you like a bit of history & a whole lot of French, you will like Montreal. Vancouver is much more a modern city with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. Tell your partner to come set up a visual FX company in Edmonton! All our problems would be solved then!

They would have to get all the artists to move there too, that is his job as Global Recruitment Manager or something, so he goes to where the talent is, Canada, LA, some places in Europe to persuade them to come work for his company. He hires the artists who do the special effects on movies. Sounds quite interesting but they are a boring media lot, who talk about the media too much and look down on me for not being in the media. Yawn.

We probably have artists in Edmonton too! This is what I got when I googled Special Effects Edmonton: http://www.productionlighting.ca/; studiopost.com/post-production/motion-graphics; http://www.make-uptech.ca/ See there is nothing a little research cannot help with.
