As I sit here writing this it’s Wednesday afternoon, it’s about 60 degrees & pouring rain outside. Those of you who have been following me for a while know hubby & I moved last summer from our 3 bedroom apartment in the SE end of Edmonton with cross ventilation & views like this:
To a slightly smaller 2 bedroom apartment in the NE end of Edmonton with views like these (sorry these were taken in the winter so you can’t see the bridge over the LRT tracks because of snow):
The move was supposed to make it easier for both hubby & I to get to work (walk to the end of the building, across the street & you are at the LRT station sitting side by side with a bus terminal). Health issues forced me to quit working while we were in the process of moving, so the commute thing didn’t really help me but it is a bit better for hubby.
We also loved that more of the square footage was devoted to the living/dining room with slightly smaller bedrooms.
The other draw to the new place was it had air conditioning (which is really rare in Edmonton for some reason) & not just a unit stuck in the wall, it had central air. Unfortunately, the air conditioning has not worked at all this year. We’ve had a summer of rain, followed by days of hot weather, then more rain. Today, on the coolest day of this summer, the people are finally coming to fix it. How many really hot days are there left in this summer? Just my luck.
While you’re reading this I will be undergoing the worst torture known to a woman – a mammogram, which gets scarier every year.

Hope all goes well with your mammogram. And despite all the good points of your new accomodation, I bet you still miss those views.

Sounds as though the apartment is easier though .. especially with the bigger living space … I hope the Mammogram will be fine – I’m sure it will be .. positive thoughts and no anxieties …
Cheers and that cloud view is gorgeous … Hilary

Yep, that’s me, too. Supposedly smaller breasted women have more pain because it’s harder to them sqooshed. My mil (b cup), for example, was pissed at me for “misleading” her. She was “bruised for a week”. I had some slight pinching; some discomfort, but no real pain. And I certainly wasn’t bruised.
Personally, I think discomfort/ pain is not only relative to personal pain threshold but also practitioner. You can ask for an ultrasound mammo if you have a lot of pain.
I would rather have a baby (completely unmedicated) than a toothache. And my mammos haven’t even gotten on the scale. But, I have a very high pain tolerance, too…..

Ah, mammograms. Fun, aren’t they? But good for you for getting your screening. One of life’s necessary unpleasantries.

Get this mammogram out of the way, and hopefully no reason to think about it until next years.
My girl hates them too.

Now I’m wondering how they do it on very small breasted woman.
What if there isn’t enough for the thing to squeeze?

They squeeze anyway. They have to get whatever you’ve got flat, so they can take the pictures. Grrrrr . . .

Zoe, you need to get those done, even if they are extremely painful, even if they trigger bad memories for you – it’s important to get this test done! Please don’t neglect this!

Hang in there… But if I was you, I would tape a small catsup packet to the bottom of one of your breasts… and then when the machine starts to squeeze, wait till the packet bursts and then start screaming… it will liven the whole ordeal up, and make it worse for them than for you.

I love the idea of a little surprise! You’d be revealing your sense of humor, which is usually not measurable on a mammogram. Mammograms could be humorous, but I’ve rarely found a technician that jokes too much! Too bad, it hurts enough that a joke or two might be helpful! 🙂

The tech I had this time was actually quite nice, so it wasn’t as much of an ordeal & she kept saying sorry, sorry I just have to get it a little tighter, how you doing?, etc. I’m glad we don’t have to have this done more often! I have a couple of bruises!

We’re being inflicted with an LRT, and wifey has been doing mammos for years. I know which one I think is worse, but then I only have to, “Turn your head and cough!”

As you have with me, and as WhiteLady has accused me with others, we wish to get to know our fellow blogger friends. I would be interested, and I feel others would be also. I’ve written of small-town boy moving to big(?) city, I think a Bush-to-Posh tale would be fun, if you’re ever seeking a post theme. 😀
